Tea processing is considered an art form in China, with masters dedicating their lives to perfecting techniques for each variety. Green tea requires careful heat application to prevent oxidation, while oolong undergoes partial oxidation to create complex flavors. Puerh tea is unique in its postfermentation process, allowing it to age and develop richer flavors over time, much like fine wine. Chinese tea is deeply intertwined with traditional medicine and ceremonial practices. Different varieties are believed to offer specific health benefits, from the antioxidant properties of green tea to the digestive benefits of puerh. The Chinese tea ceremony, known as Gongfu Cha, emphasizes mindfulness and respect, teaching practitioners to appreciate subtle flavors and aromas while fostering social connections through shared tea experiences.
